PBX departments and destinations

Create departments, then give every department at least one real destination before assigning caller routes.

Departments

A department is an operational ownership group such as Sales, Billing, Support, Scheduling, Dispatch, or a custom name. Departments created in Business Discovery are real workspace configuration and flow into PBX setup; they are not merely suggestions.

Destinations

  • Attendant or person: an individual who may receive a transferred call.
  • Extension: a direct dial target represented by a person or operational endpoint.
  • Ring group: multiple eligible attendants rung under one strategy.
  • Queue: callers wait for an eligible member according to provider-backed queue rules.
  • Voicemail box: records the message, transcript, summary, and configured notification.
  • Callback destination: captures a request for later human contact when supported by the route.
Important

Every department must have at least one destination, or the department must be removed, before onboarding can continue.

Where detailed management happens

Onboarding creates enough structure to produce a valid route. After onboarding, owners and managers use PBX destinations and Phone & routing settings to maintain numbers, memberships, availability, ring duration, schedules, extensions, prompts, and advanced fallback behavior.
